Blah, But Not Too Blah

So I am sitting here sulking. I miss my puppy. This is the second time this week I have left her in the care of others. Frankly, I don't know how I will handle my upcoming weekend get away without her. Maybe this is just extra hard because John has been away from home for a week now. All I know is I want my pup.

Monday we left her at the vet for a few hours. They needed to do an ECG, blood work, and X-ray. The latter was added due to a fear of Hip Dysplasia. So her heart and blood work all checked out and she was approved to have her CT-Scan in effort to find/rule out a cause of the seizures. The x-ray of her hips shows signs of a pre-hip dysplasia issue. While it is not bad enough to receive a diagnosis. It is significant enough that she is now on a joint supplement to help her body "heal" instead of get worse. She also has gaps where the ball of the leg fits into the socket. This could lead to arthritis, BUT has not done so yet... another reason for the supplements. She has also been "prescribed" a routine daily walk. We had already started taking mile long family walks in the evening, but now I have more motivation to do so. They also started her on Phenobarbital for her seizures. She takes this medication twice a day - forever. Unlike humans, dogs are placed on this med and stay on it... even if they go 2 years without seizures. Now they will try to keep her at the lowest effective dose.

So now a typical day in our house of medicines looks like this .... All members gather for morning meds: 1 for Mom, 1 for Noah, 2 for John, 1 1 for Maya. One afternoon med for mommy. Bedtime meds: 1 for Noah, 2 for Maya. Six different medications total. Shouldn't I be required to hold some form of Pharmaceutical Degree for all the dispensing of meds? Hehe. Noah and Maya take their seizure meds together. They actually enjoy the teamwork. Maybe I will snag some video tonight. lol

So why is my puppy missing today? She is having her CAT Scan at a local animal hospital. Noah got mad at the vet on Monday. "She is not a CAT, therefore cannot have a CAT scan!" "It's a DOG Scan Lady!" Both said with a roll of the eyes and as much Noah attitude as possible. The funny thing is her nickname is Kitty Kitty. She has so many catlike behaviors that dogs don't have. I know the lady at the hospital thought I was crazy when I called Maya out from under the chairs with "Here Kitty Kitty". Why a scan? Well they want to rule out head trauma or tumors as a cause for the seizures. Well they just called and said they had extubated her and she is in recovery. We can come pick her up around 3pm YAY! We will have to wait @ 48 hours for our vet to have the results.

So yeah this is all getting costly. BUT this helps! http://www.petfirsthealthcare.com/

Love you LOTS!
